HTC-E (Hiker Trailer Campout -East)

Search

We have searched high and low, found campgrounds we liked then found out they didn't allow pets or only had 1/3 of the campground available for reservations.....but finally, we found one that we think meets all the requirements :-)

HTC-E5 will be on Sept 14-17, 2023

Yes, Thurs - Sunday this year, more time to see more trailers and more time to hang out with people that enjoy camping like you!! We will be spending the weekend on the border of Kentucky and Tennessee at.... Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park Campground!! Reservations are now open. You can follow this link to make reservations: https://bit.ly/3FNh1sD This campground is set up differently than we have ever seen before - there are pods of 8 sites together. This will hopefully add to the community we work at creating at the campout. We will plan on reserving sites in Loops A-O first and using P-R as overflow.

Once you have made reservations, add your information to the tracking form. Please include your email as this is the main form of communication we will use to keep you up to date on the latest happenings for #HTCE5.

WOW!! is all we can say. 72 trailers and 140 people came together for a fun-filled weekend.

The campout officially started on Friday evening, but many people showed up earlier in the week. Matt and I enjoyed visiting and meeting so many of you at the campout.

Food Bank donations - you all rock! Knox Caring Cupboard was very grateful. We received this message from them: "Hi, I am the Coordinator for the Knox Caring Cupboard in Knox, PA. We received your generous donations of food and cash for stocking our shelves for the coming distribution. I was amazed at the generosity of complete strangers. God Bless all of you. We hope your stay at Cook Forest was pleasant. We ordered the nice weather just for you. Thanks again."

One of our goals for this campout is to bring together community - it brought joy to us to watch many of you interacting together and making plans to camp together in the future.

Saturday:

  • Talks about "Living in a Trailer" and "Solar/Battery setups"

  • Pop-up sessions: "Female urination devices" - there was a lot of talk about this one :-) and "Cooking on a Skottle" Tosh sure knows how to cook! Yummy!

  • Trailer tours galore - with 72 trailers to see - I'm sure everyone left with at least one idea to modify their trailer.

  • Giveaway Time -

    • Thanks to our sponsors of the event: Hiker Trailers, Anker, Bluetti, Ignik, GTF Overland, Moon Shade, Mpowerd, Tumbo Tusk, and Mattress Insider.

    • All of you were very generous with your donations for the give away too, which added to the fun!

    • And then there is Dwayne/Theresa and Gregg/Sarah who thought it would be fun to do a few skits about MWD Adventures :-) You will have to see the Overview video for a glimpse of their shenanigans.

Full walk around of a few trailers - to be released this winter

Until next year, Get out and do SOME "Little" Camping!!

Hey,

We have a tradition at these campouts to collect nonperishable foods/household items and donate them to a local charity. This year we are going to be donating to Knox Caring Cupboard. See info below. While talking with Esther, she states all her families have can openers so the cans don't need to have pop lids. She informed me that the pop lids can actually be harder for her senior adults to open. Here are some items she states they like to stock in their pantry: · Soup, canned fruits and veggies, cereal, pasta and sauce, peanut butter & jelly. · If you would rather donate money, you can donate cash or make a check out to Knox Caring Cupboard. o They partner with a local farmer and buy fresh milk and eggs and purchase items that haven't been donated. Another tradition we do at the campout is the Saturday evening gathering and giveaway. We have partnered with 9 companies that have donated larger items for the giveaway - see below and consider them as you outfit your trailer. We have found that the giveaway is more fun when there is more to give away :-)! This is where you come in. We all have items we love to use while camping. If you would be willing to buy a new item and donate it to the giveaway we would appreciate it! This year we thought we would add a new activity. Gear Sale! If you have items that you are no longer using but are still in good working order. Add them to the tracking form: https://bit.ly/3jdULfy This way people that are interested in your gear can find you and you can negotiate pricing :-).
